OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Sub: Inclusion of dependent children of widowed/separated daughters of
CGHS beneficiaries –regarding.



         The undersigned is directed to state that the recommendatioe of the 6th
Central Pay Commission regarding extension of CGHS facilities to dependent
children of widowed/separated daughters of CGHS beneficiaries by expanding the
definition of ‘family’. under CGHS has been under consideration at
this Ministry.

2.      The matter has been examined in this Ministry and it has now been decided with the approval of the competent authority to expand the definition of
‘family’ under Central .Government Health Scheme (CGHS) to include the minor
children of widowed/separated daughters who are dependent upon the CGHS
beneficiary. The upper-age limit of the dependents for the purpose of being
eligible for CGHS medical facilities will be 18 years, the age of their becoming
major. They should be normally residing with the Government servant/pensioner.

3.      These instructions will take effect from the date of issue of this
Office Memorandum.

4.      This issues with the concurrence of Integrated Finance Division vide Dy No. C1777 dated 23.11.2011.
