Passport Seva Laghu Kendra (PSLKs) – Expansion of Passport Seva Kendras: Rajya Sabha Q&A

After the full roll-out of planned 77 Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, it has been felt that some regions especially North Eastern States were inadequately covered by the Passport Seva Project. Ministry has decided to set up 14 Passport Seva Laghu Kendras (PSLKs) across the country including North Eastern States at Government cost.

(a) whether it is a fact that Government is considering to expand the network of Passport Seva Kendras in the country beyond the existing 77 outlets;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether Government has received many requests for opening Passport Seva Kendras in various States; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b) Yes, after the full roll-out of planned 77 Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, it has been felt that some regions especially North Eastern States were inadequately covered by the Passport Seva Project. Ministry has decided to set up 14 Passport Seva Laghu Kendras (PSLKs) across the country including North Eastern States at Government cost.

(c) & (d) Yes, requests have been received from various States/Union Territories including Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamilnadu and Uttar Pradesh.
