Geologists’ Examination 2011 

          Based on the results of the written Examination held by UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION in December, 2011 and the subsequent Personality Tests held in August-September, 2012, the following is the list in order of merit, of candidates who have been recommended on the basis of the Geologists Exam 2011 for appointment to the posts of :
          CATEGORY-I ( Posts in Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines)
                                    (a) Geologist, Group ‘A’
          CATEGORY-II (Posts in the Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources)
                              (a) Junior Hydrogeologist (Scientist B), Group ‘A’
                             (b) Assistant Hydrogeologist, Group ‘B’

·The total number of candidates recommended for appointment in List-I (Category-I) is 260, which includes 115 General Candidates, 79 belonging to the Other Backward Classes, 48 belonging to the Scheduled Castes and 18 belonging to the Scheduled Tribes.
3.       Fifteen (15) vacancies reserved for Physically Challenged candidates (belonging to the category of Hearing Impairment) remain unfilled in the absence of eligible candidates. 
4.       The total number of candidates recommended for appointment in List-II (Category-II) is 65, which include 34 General Candidates, 12 belonging to the Other Backward Classes, 11 belonging to the Scheduled Castes and 08 belonging to the Scheduled Tribes category.
5.       02 (two) vacancies reserved for Physically Challenged candidates one each for Visually Impaired and Hearing impaired remain unfilled in the absence of eligible candidates.
6.       Appointment to the two categories and posts there under will be made according to the number of vacancies reported which are as under :-

8.       Under Category-I posts, 16 OBC, 5 SC and 04 ST candidates have qualified on their own merit (general standard).  The Commission therefore, in accordance with Rules 14(4) & 14(5) of the examination will also maintain a Reserve List of 50 candidates (25 General, 16 OBC, 5 SC & 4 ST) ranking in merit below the last recommended  candidates for Category-I.  Similarly, as 7 OBC and 3 SC candidates have qualified on general standards in Category-II posts, a Reserve List of 20 candidates (10 General, 7 OBC, and 3 SC) will be maintained by the Commission for Category-II, who will rank below the merit of the last recommended candidate for Category-II.
9.       Reserve List operation will be only for the limited purpose of catering to options exercised by the candidates belonging to Reserve Communities who have qualified on General Standards.  Thus Reserve List operation will be only as per requirement and on the basis of the concerned Ministry’s requisition.
10.     UPSC has a ‘Facilitation Counter’ near Examination Hall in its campus. Candidates can obtain any information/clarification regarding their examination/ recruitment on the working day between 10.00 hrs. To 17.00 hrs in person or over telephone Nos. 011-23385271 / 23381125.  Result will also be available on the UPSC web site i.e. www.upsc.gov.in.
