Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to state:-
(a) whether the civilian employees have been working in the Canteen Stores Department (CSD) / Unit Run Canteen of the armed forces;
(b) if so, the number of permanent and temporary employees working in each canteen and their pay scales / daily wages;
(c) whether the pay scales / wages of these employees have not been revised since long;
(d) if so, the reasons therefor; and
(e) the action taken by the Government in this regard?
MINISTER OF DEFENCE (SHRI A.K. ANTONY)
(a) Yes, Madam.
(b) There are approximately 5400 civilian employees working in various Units Run Canteens (URCs). The pay and benefits of URC employees are governed as per rules regulating the terms and conditions of the services of civilian employees of the URCs issued by Army Head Quarters.
(c) The basic pay of all categories of URC employees has been increased by 50% w.e.f. 1.2.2009 and another 15% w.e.f. 1.12.2009.
(d) & (e): Does not arise.

Mr Defence Minster tell me why unit run canteen employees are on strike infront of your office since 03 Dec 12. They want their rights, not beg from you & You are making fool to all MPs in parliament. You know they are getting 5th pay commisson only basic pay(not other allowanace) the 5th pay commision basis was 3250 PM, now come on 5000 per month, how they can survied their family atleast 5000 pm. We are satisfying which you had givne answer in parliament? Some thing do Mr AK Antony?
