Dear Sirs,

Public Holiday on 15th November 2013 instead of 14th November 2013 on account of Muharram under Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 

The Government of Maharashtra vide notification dated 12th November 2013 has declared 15th November 2013 instead of 14th November 2013 on account of Muharram as a holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

A copy of the notification is enclosed for your information and necessary action.

NOTIFICATION

Negotiable Instruments Act,1881

No.PHD 1112/C.R.185/2012/XXIX: In exercise of the powers of Central Government under section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act,1881 (XXVI of 1881) entrusted to it by the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs vide its Notification No.39/1/68/JUDL-III/dated the 8th May,1968, the Government of Maharashtra had declared Public Holiday of Muharram on 14th November, 2013 by the Notification dated 5th December,2012. In exercise of powers vested with State Government of Maharashtra hereby declare the Public Holiday of Muharram on 15th November, 2013 instead 14th November,2013 and Public Holiday already declared on 14th November,2013 be treated as cancelled. Therefore 14th November,2013 will be regular working day for the State Government/Semi-Government Offices including Urban and Rural Local Bodies.
