DOCTORS IN ARMED FORCES MEDICAL SERVICES

Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to state:-

(a) the total number of doctors commissioned through Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) during the last three years and the current year, year-wise;

(b) the number of doctors who have opted out of service by paying the bond money during the said period;

(c) whether the Government proposes to raise the bond money upwards to arrest the exodus of commissioned doctors;


(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

ANSWER

(a) The total number of doctors commissioned through Armed Forces Medical Services during the last three years and the current year are as under:-

(b) The number of doctors who opted out of service by paying the bond money
during the last three years and the current year are as under:-

 (c) to (e): The Government of India has already increased the bond money w.e.f. the current academic year i.e. 2014, as under:-

(ii) Post graduate MD/MS course (i) Rs. 5 lakh for civilian candidates (ii) Rs. 15

(iii) Post doctoral

DM/MCh/DNB (Super candidates Speciality)

Rs. 5 lakh for civilian course Rs.30 lakh

It has also been decided that the above bond money will be enhanced by Rs. one lakh per year for the next 5 years.
