CORRIGENDUM

Sub:- Training Period in Technician Category.

Kindly refer to Board’s letter of even number dated 09.10.2024 (RBE.No.92/2024) wherein following has been replaced:

iv) Matriculation or any other higher qualification and other non relevant ITI courses- 2 years

may be read as

iv) Matriculation or Matriculation alongwith other non relevant ITI courses or any other higher qualification – 2 years

2. The Indian Railway Establishment manual Vol. I (1989 Edition) is accordingly amended as in Advance Correction Slip No. 291(copy enclosed).

3. The Ministry of Railways have decided that the Manual on Management of training may be amended as per attached Advance Correction Slip No 01/2025 (copy enclosed)

Indian Railway Establishment Manual Vol . I (1989 EDITION)

Advance Correction Slip No : 291

Para No. 159 (3) of IREM Vol.I (1989 Edition) stands modified as follows:

โ€œThe period of training for direct recruits will vary depending on the qualifications of recruits. The same will be as under:โ€”

(i) Course completed Act Apprentices trained in Railway Establishments.โ€”Nil

(ii) Course completed Act Apprentices trained in non-Railway Establishments.โ€”06 months

(iii) ITI passed candidates in the same or the fields or related fields as per DR advertisement norms.โ€”06 months

NOTE: There may be certain circumstances (exceptional or otherwise) such as Compassionate Ground Appointees (CGA) etc., where the recruits do not possess the minimum qualification of Act Apprenticeship or ITI, in relevant trade; their period of training shall be as under:

(i) Degree/ Diploma holders in field of relevant trade and similar trades on par with DR advertisement normsโ€“ 06 months

(ii) Engineering Degree/ Diploma holders in a field other than that of relevant trade โ€“12 months

(iii) Matriculation plus ITI qualification in a trade which is one of the engineering trades falling in the relevant trades for a post of Technician Grade-III as per extant RRB notifications, but is not the relevant trade for the post โ€“ 12 months

(iv)Matriculation or Matriculation alongwith other non relevant ITI courses or any other higher qualification – 2 years

Advance Correction Slip No : 01/2025

Item No. VII of Appendix II of the Manual on Management of Training (Edition 1998) may be replaced as under:-

โ€œThe period of training for direct recruits will vary depending on the qualifications of recruits. The same will be as under:โ€”

(i) Course completed Act Apprentices trained in Railway Establishments.โ€”Nil
(ii) Course completed Act Apprentices trained in non-Railway Establishments.โ€”06 months
(iii) ITI passed candidates in the same or the fields or related fields as per DR advertisement norms.โ€”06 months
