Sub: Recommendations for the award of MR’s Jeewan Raksha Padak & MR’s Mahila Ewam Bal Suraksha Padak for the year 2020

Please refer to the Board’s letter No. 2019/ Sec(CA)/56/1 dated 15.03.2019 (enclosed) vide which Railway Minister’s Jeewan Raksha Padak and Railway Minister’s Mahila Ewam Bal Suraksha Padak were instituted.

Recommendations for the two awards may be forwarded to Board’s office in prescribed proforma (enclosed) latest by 26 Jan 2021. Declaration as per format enclosed shall also be forwarded alongwith the recommendation. Each zonal railway may nominate minimum one person each for the two awards. If there are no recommendations, a NIL reply may kindly be submitted at the earliest.

D&AR, Vigilance clearance and criminal case clearance must be obtained in each case. Vigilance clearance must be enclosed with the recommendation and Declaration shall be countersigned by the recommending authority.

GOVERNING RULES FOR AWARD OF ‘RAILWAY MINISTER’S JEEWAN RAKSHA PADAK’

l. The medal shall be known as “Railway Minister’s Jeewan Raksha Padak.”

2. It shall carry a cash award of Rs. 1,00,000/- (One lakh rupees), a certificate and a Medal with it.

3. It shall be awarded annually to a member of the force irrespective of the rank.

4. It shall be awarded to a member of the Force who has shown exceptional determination, alertness and exhibited conspicuous presence of mind to save life of any passenger, without caring for his/her own life.

5. Each zonal railway may nominate one person for consideration for the above award in the first week of September every year. If, in their opinion, there is no suitable case for nomination, they may send a NIL report.

6. The PCSCs/RPF of Zonal Railways may send their nominations after scrutinizing eligible cases by a committee of officers nominated by them.

7. The nomination shall be scrutinized by a committee of officers nominated by DG/RPE and the awardees will be selected.

8. The recommendations shall be put up to MR through DG/RPF for approval in Board’s Office.

1. The medal shall be known as “Railway Minister’s Mahila Ewam Bal Suraksha Padak”

2. It shall carry a cash award of Rs. 1,00,000/- (One lakh rupees), a certificate and a
Medal with it.

3. It shall be awarded annually to a member of the force irrespective of the rank.

4. It shall be awarded to a member of the Force who has done commendable work and rendered yeomen services in the field of security of women and children.

5. Each zonal railway may nominate one person for consideration for the above award in the first week of September every year. If, in their opinion, there is no suitable case for nomination, they may send a NIL report.

6. The PCSCs/RPF of Zonal Railways may send their nominations after scrutinizing eligible cases by a committee of officers nominated by them.

7. The nomination shall be scrutinized by a committee of officers nominated by DG/RPF and the awardees will be selected.

8. The recommendations shall be put up to MR through DG/RPF for approval in Board’s Office.
