Subject: The provision of aids and assistive devices for employees with disabilities in Central Government Establishments under Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
Sir/Madam,
I am directed to refer to this office letter of even number dated 31.10.2025 on the subject mentioned above, wherein Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPWD) O.M. No. 18-130/2025-DD-III dated 22.09.2025 was circulated to all Postal Circles/Units.
2. The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), vide its O.M. No. P-12015/1/2025-Policy dated 07.09.2026, has decided that, in order to facilitate timely provision of reasonable accommodation to employees with disabilities, Ministries/Departments may consider limiting the quantum of advance to 80% of the estimated cost of the prescribed device. This shall be subject to an overall ceiling of 10 lakh in a block of three years, along with compliance to the other conditions stipulated in DEPwD O.M. dated 22.09.2025.A copy of the said order is enclosed for reference.
3. In light of the above, it is requested that the contents of the DEPwD letter dated 07.09.2026 may be disseminated to all concerned officers within your jurisdiction for effective utilization of the services of employees with disabilities.
This issue with the approval of the Competent Authority.
