Sub: Adoption of New School Uniform design in Kendriya Vidyalayas from the academic session 2012-13- reg.
Sir/Madam,
1. It is a matter of great pride that the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has emerged over the years as a pace setter in the field of school education catering to the needs of about 10.7 lakh boys and girls studying in various classes from classes I-XII across the country and abroad.
2. KVS is completing 50 years of its glorious existence and on the eve of its golden jubilee, KVS would like to introduce its new uniform pattern for the KV students from the academic session 2012-13.
3. The present uniform design has been in vogue since the very inception of KVS in 1963. With the view to remain contemporary and to provide a unique identity to its students, all the same, keeping the comfort, the cost and the availability factors, the new uniform has been designed in collaboration with NIFT, New Delhi. The Board of Governors in their 92nd meeting held on 18th May 2012 has approved of the adoption of a new uniform design for the KVS.
The details of the new uniform Pattern are attached as Annexure-I.
4. It is informed that the photo album of the new uniform design and the swatch file is enclosed for your reference. Further the proto-type of uniforms is also available on the KVS website (www.kvsangathan.nic.in). You may give wide publicity to this matter and inform the parents, students and all other stakeholders orally and in writing. Ample time and guidance may be provided to the parents for getting the uniforms ready.
5. As informed vide circular No.11029/27/2011 KVS(Hq)(Acad.) dt. March 1, 2012, the old and new uniforms may continue to be used simultaneously during the transition period for II to XI. The old ones may be weaned out of use gradually over a period of 2 years i.e. by July 2014. The parents of class I students may be instructed to get the uniform stitched for their wards as per the new uniform design. Students of class XII shall continue with the existing uniform if they so desire as they will be passing out at the end of this academic year.
6. Consequent to the implementation of the new uniform policy, Article 92 (C) of Education (2006 edition) stands amended.
This circular may be widely disseminated amongst all concerned.

Its only teething problem. Everyone will overcome it.
Pl. make FULL PANT instead of half pant for students of 1 to 5. Because there is more chances of injury on knee, because of falling dawn.
actually the old uniform was good, it can wear all the students especially the dark coloured students,the new uniforn is not a better look for such students. nift forgot one thing that our country has many dark coloured students
Hamare is Sarkar or usike ander is Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. Parai pe to dhiyan dete nehin, srif kapre badal rahe hain. We all know that India is a country of Summer season. In this climate who the hell has designed a 93% Polyester dress for children. The parents of KV should speak up and protest (letter, email & phone to Asstt Commissioner New Delhi). This quality of uniform is better for winter season. Itnahin change karna tha to company aur darzi ke naam bhi bol dete. KV ke authorities ke bachche log bhi to inme saamil hain. How could they tolerate such a kind of body un-friendly dress for their child. Keya saab ke ethic maar gaya keya.

it is better to accept the dress as it is as many have already purchased the uniforms. Now, dont expect that the uniform will be changed once again will be be terrible for the pockets of the parents who are already stint.

Sir, the circular issued by kv sangathan is for all kv as per my knowledge, the circular regarding new uniform clearly state that the new as well as the old uniform can be wear upto 2014, then why the principal of a KV IR FORCE AVADI enforce the students to wear atleast one set of uniform from 1st Oct 2012. He has changed this date 3rd time first date was 15 Aug 2012 ,2nd date was 5th Sep 2012 and 1st Oct 2012 is the latest one. Sir only three shops are here where the uniform is available in small village of muthapudupet where this school is located. Principal has over rule the circular issued by your sangathan either he wants good number in his annual assessment for his promotion in the world of neck to neck competition or he gets some commission from the shopkeeper or some thing else. Where as in other kv no one has forced to start this uniform before Jul 2014. He has put the welfare of all the parents on edge. Sir the parents want is same as sangathan that when the old uniform get teared off then they will stitch the new pattern uniform i.e why the two year time has given by you. Sir the question arise here:-
1. Separate circular has been issued by your sangathan for new uniform to implement by 1st Oct 2012?
2. He has got more power than i.e why he has overrule the circular?
3. Why he want that all the student of his school should wear new uniform by 1st Oct 2012?
4. Is he get some good Annual assessment by doing so first in all KV?
5. Is he get some monetary benefit from local shopkeeper?
Your immediate intervention is required in this matter.
i love the winter uniform… but the uniform for senior girls is horrible…..

i am a student of kv no 1 jalahalli west. my opinion is not bad about the uniform.its good my bro is also good.
goverment can't live t gray colour 😉 pis tell that children not like gray in uniform it make it ugly;-( let's children desine there uniform.thay can make it better
1. Sports shoes have not been shown separately and appears to be an ommission.If it is intentional following problems arise.
2. The new black velcro shoes does not seem suitable for games/sports/PT and would affect the running style of children and over a period of time, result in leg/knee problems.
3. Even if the black shoe is designed as multi-purpose/also suitable for sports, most parents/children would not be able to afford those due to high costs.
4. An early clarification is solicited.

yeah…….d senior girls dress is not at all ok.n the color is also very indecentbe.the uniforms must be simple and comfortable yet classy.but d new design lacks all 3.but replacement of waistcoats in place of dupattas is quite good……..
This is not a good uniform for girls who are studying in classes 9th-12th.Salwar is more comfortable.
Cotton is body friendly and natural but it cant be used for uniforms like daily wear. In India we are mostly using Polyester blended fabric for uniform. i.e PC (Polyester Cotton), PV (Polyester Viscose) etc…
KV uniform fabric & readymade garments are ready available with Woven Fabric Company, Mumbai
It is unfortunate that the school which teaches about wearing cotton cloths because of the climate we are in are asking to wear high polyester (93%)cloths.Is it the principle which our rulers practice? " Dont follow what you preach". We fail to understand the design designed by famous NIFT.The breast coat for girls will add more woes as there shall be double cover and during summer it shall be horrible when temperatures touch 43 C and above.
the sportswear is fabulous…..but other uniform are horrible……i don't like it……..plz change it………….
i liked the winter uniform for everyone and sportswear but the summer uniform…..(especially class 9th to 12th… i cant bear it..
This modernisation will adversely impact the unity, between the students, between the poor and the rich.
It is going to create a rift for sure.

The new uniform is surely advance and matches the needs of these times, but I think there is too much of variance in the uniform, seems costly, summer-winter based dresses (was that really necessary..?), house-wise distribution (a 5rs colored pin-up batch may do the job instead).
It will be interesting to see at what cost will these uniforms be priced when they hit the market…

New uniform is the better than old uniform . The colors of the uniform are very awesome and beautiful. The new uniform system have to implement the all kv schools at the earliest. Don't wait until 2014.
