Will the Minister of SHIPPING be pleased to state:-
(a) the sanctioned and posted strength of technical personnel under the Directorate of Shipping;
(b) the sanctioned and posted strength of staff in various ports including Paradip Port, port and port-wise; and
(c) the steps taken/being taken by the Government to fill up the vacant posts in a time bound manner?
ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF SHIPPING (SHRI PON. RADHAKRISHNAN)
(a) The total sanctioned strength of technical posts in the Directorate General of Shipping is 88. Against this, 52 posts are filled up.
(b) The sanctioned strength and filled up position in various ports including Paradip Port, is annexed.
(c) To facilitate timely filling up of vacant posts in the Directorate General of Shipping, the Government has delegated the powers to the Director General, Directorate General of Shipping to fill up all posts except those which require the approval of Appointment Committee of the Cabinet.
In so far as major Ports are concerned, only Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Heads of Department are filled up by the Government. The power to fill other positions in the major Ports, including Paradip Port, has been delegated to the respective major Ports.
