OPENING OF NEW CGHS WELLNESS CENTRES

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is exploring the possibility of opening CGHS Wellness Centres at various locations across the country;
(b) if so, the number of new CGHS Wellness Centres currently under consideration for establishment in the country;
(c) whether Shamli and Meerut districts of Uttar Pradesh have also been identified as potential locations for setting up two new CGHS Wellness Centres;
(d) if so, the details of progress made in this regard; and
(e) if not, the reasons therefor and whether there is any proposal under consideration by the Government to include these districts in future, if so, the details thereof?
ANSWER

(a) to (e) : At present, 342 Allopathy Wellness Centres and 111 AYUSH Units are functioning across 81 cities in the country. Further, Government has approved additional 22 new CGHS Wellness Centres across the country at various locations namely, Bhilai, Durg, Narmadapuram, Bahadurgarh, Rewari, Rohtak, Jamshedpur, Sabarmati, Bharatpur, Alwar, Haldwani, Nainital, Dharamshala, Kangra, Patiala, Udupi, Shivamogga, Warangal, Thirupathi, Navi Mumbai, Hapur and Mangaluru.
The extant norms for opening of a new CGHS Wellness Centre, inter-alia, include minimum 2500 principal CGHS Cardholders or 6000 CGHS beneficiaries subject to availability of resources, suitable accommodations, creation of posts of Medical Officers, Pharmacists, Staff Nurse, Clerical Staff etc by Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT). The sanction of posts and allocation of funds for these Wellness Centres is under the ambit of Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance.
At present, 08 Wellness Centres are already functioning in the Meerut district. No such proposal regarding setting up of new dispensary in Shamli and Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh is under consideration.
