With reference to Southern Railway’s letter no. P(G)532/II/AOM/30% LDCE Selection/CCBT/2025-26 dated 05.03.2026 on the above mentioned subject, it is clarified that Board’s letters No. E(GP)2024/2/09 dated 29.05.2024 and 14.10.2024, pertain to cases where an employee is medically de-categorized and absorbed in another Department. The rationale for the clarification furnished vide Board’s letters ibid is that the provisions of IREM regarding counting of past service of medically decategorized staff absorbed in alternate posts are to be read in conjunction with the gazette notified Recruitment Rules for a particular Group ‘B’ post.
2. In the instant case, it is observed that the medically de-categorized employees have been absorbed within the same Department in alternate posts, and both the pre-absorption as well as post-absorption posts are feeder categories for the particular Group ‘B’ post in that Department.
3. In view of the above, it is advised that in such cases as mentioned in para 2 above, the service rendered in the earlier post as well as in the post after absorption, both being eligible feeder categories within the same Department, may be taken into account for determining eligibility for promotion to the Group ‘B’ post in that Department.
