Railway Protection Force Amendment Rules, 2025 in Rule 47 Enlistment Standard, Rule 48, Rule 49 & Rule 50: Notification No. G.S.R. 766(E) dated 17.10.2025

NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 17th October, 2025
G.S.R. 766(E).––In exercise of the powers conferred by section 21 of the Railway Protection Force Act, 1957 (23 of 1957), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Railway Protection Force Rules, 1987, namely:-
1. (1) These rules may be called the Railway Protection Force Amendment Rules, 2025.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. In the Railway Protection Force Rules, 1987, (hereinafter referred to as the said rules) in rule 45 in sub-rule (2), for the words “take steps to fill them up in accordance with these rules”, the words “send it to Railway Board” shall be substituted.
3. In the said rules, in rule 47, the following rule shall be substituted, namely:-
“47. Enlistment Standards. –
(1) Physical Standard for Executive Cadre: The minimum physical standard for enlistment as an enrolled member of the Force in Executive Cadre shall be at par with physical standard of recruitment for Central Armed Police Force as under:
(a) Height – 170 cms
(b) Chest: Unexpanded – 80 cms.
Expanded – 85 cms.
Provided that the minimum physical standard for female and reserved categories candidates shall be at par with physical standard of recruitment for Central Armed Police Force as well.
(2) Physical Standard for other than Executive Cadre: The minimum physical standard for enlistment as an enrolled member of the Force for other than Executive Cadre shall be as under:
a) Height – 165 cms
(b) Chest: Unexpanded – 80 cms.
Expanded – 85 cms.
Provided that for persons who have not attained the age of twenty years, a relaxation of 2.5 cms. in height and 5 cms. in chest measurements may be allowed if the Divisional Medical Officer certifies that the person concerned is likely to attain the minimum prescribed standard on attaining the maximum age applicable in the case:
Provided further that the Director-General may prescribe separate physical standard for female candidates for direct recruitment.”
4. In the said rules, in rule 48,-
(a) in sub-rule 48.2, for the words “Constable”, the words “Constable other than Executive Cadre” shall be substituted.
(b) after sub-rule 48.2, the following sub-rule shall be inserted, namely:-
“48.3 A candidate for the post of Constable (Executive), by direct recruitment,-
(i) must be above the age of eighteen years but below the age of twenty-three years on the date of notification of the recruitment; and
(ii) must have passed High School Examination or its equivalent from a recognized Board or University.”
5. In the said rules, in rule 49,-
(a) for sub-rule 49.1, the following sub-rule shall be substituted, namely:-
“49.1 Selection for direct recruitment to the posts of Sub-Inspectors and Constables in Executive Cadre shall be made as per recruitment procedure of Staff Selection Commission for Central Armed Police Forces.
(b) for sub- rule 49.2, for the word “Constables”, the words “Constables except Constable (Executive)” shall be substituted.
6. In the said rules, in rule 51,-
(a) sub-rule 51.1 shall be renumbered as sub-rule 51.1A thereof, and before the sub-rule as so renumbered, the following sub-rule shall be inserted, namely:-
“51.1 The medical examination of the candidates for recruitment to the post of Sub-Inspectors (Executive) and Constables (Executive) shall be done by the Medical Officer of the Central Armed Police Forces or any other Medical Officer or Assistant Surgeon belonging to Grade-I of any Central/State Government Hospital or Dispensary.”
(b) in sub-rule 51.1A, for the word “candidate”, the words “candidate except executive cadre” shall be substituted.
