Central Reserve Police Force, Sub-Inspector (General Duty), General Duty Cadre, Group ‘B’ Post Recruitment Rules, 2025: Notification dated 02.07.2025

NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 2nd July, 2025.
G.S.R. 449(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 18 of the Central Reserve Police Force Act, 1949 (66 of 1949) and in supersession of the Central Reserve Police Force, Group ‘B’ posts (General Duty, Technical and Tradesmen Cadre) Recruitment Rules, 2014 in so far as they relate to the post of General Duty Cadre, Sub-Inspector (General Duty), except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such supersession, the Central Government hereby makes the following rules regulating the method of recruitment to the posts of Sub-Inspector (General Duty) in the Central Reserve Police Force, namely:-
1. Short title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Central Reserve Police Force, Sub-Inspector (General Duty), General Duty Cadre, Group ‘B’ Post Recruitment Rules, 2025.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. Definitions.- (1) In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires,-
(a) “Director General” means the Director General, Central Reserve Police Force;
(b) “SHAPE-1” refers to the Medical Category as specified under the Central Reserve Police Force Standing Order No. 04 of 2008 dated the 15th December, 2008 and subsequent amendments issued in this regard from time to time.
(2) Words and expressions used herein and not defined, shall have the same meanings assigned to them in the Central Reserve Police Force Act, 1949 (66 of 1949) and the Central Reserve Police Force Rules, 1955.
3. Number of post, classification and level in pay matrix. – The number of post, its classification and level in the pay matrix attached thereto, shall be as specified in columns (2) to (4) of the Schedule annexed to these rules
4. Method of recruitment, age-limit, qualifications, etc.- The method of recruitment, age-limit, qualifications and other matters relating to the said post shall be as specified in columns (5) to (13) of the aforesaid Schedule.
5. Pre-promotional courses.– The person in the feeder rank shall undergo qualifying courses before completing the service eligibility period for promotion to higher rank, in order of their seniority and every such member of the Force shall, before any promotion, be required to pass pre-promotion and promotional course referred to in the said Schedule :
Provided that if the Director General is satisfied that due to exigencies of service or other unavoidable reasons, any such member is not able to undergo the required pre-promotional courses, he may promote such member of Force, subject to passing of pre-promotional course within a period of two years, from the date of promotion, failing which he shall be reverted to previous rank and status.
6. Seniority.- Seniority shall be regulated in accordance with the Central Reserve Police Force Rules, 1955 and general instructions issued by the Central Government from time to time.
7. Disqualification.- No person,-
(a) who has entered into or contracted a marriage with a person having a spouse living ; or
(b) who, having a spouse living, has entered into or contracted a marriage with any person, shall be eligible for appointment to the said post:
Provided that the Central Government may, if satisfied that such marriage is permissible under the personal law applicable to such person and that there are other grounds for doing so, exempt any person from the operation of this rule.
8. Ineligibility of non-citizens of India.- No person, who is not a citizen of India shall, except with the prior permission of the Central Government in writing, be appointed or employed under these rules:
Provided that nothing contained in this rule shall debar the appointment or employment of a subject
of Nepal or Bhutan in the Force.
9. Superannuation.- (1)The person appointed under these rules shall retire from service on the afternoon of the last day of the month in which he or she attains the age of sixty years or as prescribed by the Central Government from time to time :
Provided that the person whose date of birth is the first day of a month shall stand retired from service on the afternoon of the last day of the preceding month on attaining the age of superannuation.
(2) No person shall be granted extension in service beyond the age of retirement on superannuation as
specified in sub-rule (1).
10. Power to relax.- Where the Central Government is of the opinion that it is necessary or expedient so to do, it may, by order and for reasons to be recorded in writing, relax any of the provisions of these rules in respect to any class or category of persons.
11. Saving.- Nothing in these rules shall affect reservation, relaxation of age-limit and other concessions, required to be provided for the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes, the Other Backward Classes, the Exservicemen and others special categories of persons, in accordance with the orders, issued by the Central Government from time to time, in this regard.

| Promotion: Assistant Sub-Inspector in level 5 in the pay matrix (Rs.29200-92300) with six years regular service in the grade with two years of service as Assistant Sub-Inspector (General Duty) in a field unit, and who,__
(i) has passed pre-promotional or promotional course or courses prescribed by the Director General; (ii) is in Medical category SHAPE1; and (iii) has good record of service. Note: Where juniors who have completed their qualifying or eligibility service are being considered for promotion, their seniors shall also be considered provided they are not short of the requisite qualifying or eligibility service by more than half of such qualifying or eligibility service or two years, whichever is less and have successfully completed their probation period for promotion to the next higher grade along with the juniors who have already completed such qualifying or eligibility service. Limited Departmental Competitive Examination: (1) Assistant Sub-Inspector (General Duty) in level 5 in the pay matrix (Rs.29200- 92300) with at least four years regular service in the grade and has completed prescribed pre-promotional training: Provided that at the discretion of the competent authority, to be specified on each occasion, Head Constable (General Duty) in level 4 in the pay matrix (Rs.25500- 81100) with at least six years regular service in the grade or Constable (General Duty) in level 3 in the pay matrix (Rs.21700-69100) with at least nine years regular service in the grade, shall also be eligible to appear at the limited departmental competitive examination subject to possessing qualifications and fulfilling other eligibility conditions prescribed for the said examination. (2) The educational qualification required for the examination shall be graduation from a recognised University. (3) Should have good record of Service. |
