Exemption to vehicles of Government of India

Proviso(iii) to sub-rule (1) of rule 108 of Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 provides that a vehicle carrying high dignitaries shall be permitted to use red light with flasher/without flasher on the top front of the vehicle, while on duty anywhere in the country. According to sub-rule (3) of the said rule 108, use of blue light with or without flasher shall be permitted as top light on vehicles escorting high dignitaries entitled to the use of red light.

Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS be pleased to state:-

(a) whether the Central Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, provides any exemptions to vehicles of the Government of India transporting and accompanying VVIPs; and 


(b) if so, the details thereof?
