Notional Increment (as due on 1st July/1st January) for pension w.e.f. 01.01.2006 (6th CPC)/01.01.2016 (7th CPC) and benefits from 01.05.2023: Clarification

Notional Increment (as due on 1st July/1st January) for pension to those employees who had retired/are retiring from Railway service w.e.f. 01.01.2006 i.e. the date of implementation of 6th CPC and w.e.f 01.01.2016 i.e. the date of implementation of 7th CPC, wherein two dates for grant of increment as on 1st January/1st July of every year was introduced. However, actual monetary benefits should be given w.e.f. 01.05.2023.

Sub: Grant of Notional Increment (as due on 1st July/1st January) for pension to those employees who had retired on 30st June/31st December before drawing the same.

Ref. Railway Board’s letter No. PC-V1/2020/CC/13 dated 03.12.2024.

Attention is invited to this office letter No. ECoR/HQ/Pers/R/4/2024/ Notional Increment dated 07.02.2025 (ECoR’s Estt. Srl.No. 24/2025). wherein instructions were issued to allow the Notional Increment on 1st July/1st January in favour of all the railway employees who retired/are retiring a day before it became due i.e. 30th June/31st December in compliance with Para-7 of DOP&T’s O.M. dated 14.10.2024.

In continuation to above, as doubt has arisen on the cut off year of retirement of railway employees to be considered for the aforesaid purpose. the matter was brought before the competent authority. After careful consideration it has been decided that the Notional Increment, as it was due on 1st January/1st July should be drawn in favour of all the eligible retired employees/third parties, who had retired/are retiring from Railway service w.e.f. 01.01.2006 i.e. the date of implementation of 6th CPC and w.e.f 01.01.2016 i.e. the date of implementation of 7th CPC, wherein two dates for grant of increment as on 1st January/1st July of every year was introduced. However, actual monetary benefits should be given w.e.f. 01.05.2023.

This issues with the approval of PCPO/ECoR/BBS.
