Grant of All India LTC to pensioners after every 4 years – Suggestions have been taken on record for appropriate action in due course of time: DoP&T
On January 17, 2025, Shri Satpal Singh, President of the Defence Accounts Pensioner’s Welfare Association, submitted a letter to the Hon’ble Finance Minister advocating for the extension of All India LTC to pensioners every four years. This proposal is rooted in the belief that retired personnel should continue to enjoy travel benefits, allowing them to maintain connections with family and friends across the country, as well as explore new regions.
In response to the letter, the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions acknowledged the receipt of the suggestions. The communication indicated that the proposals would be taken into record for appropriate action in due course. This acknowledgment is a positive sign, reflecting the government’s willingness to engage with pensioner associations and consider their needs.
Leave Travel Concession (LTC) is a benefit provided to government employees that allows them to travel within India at the government’s expense. Typically, this concession is available during their service period, enabling them to take vacations without financial burden. However, once individuals retire, many such benefits cease, which can lead to a disconnect from the community and an increased financial strain during travel.
