Subject: Grant of third chance to Junior Accounts Assistants (JAA) for appearing in Appendix II (IREM) Examination beyond four years – reg.
In continuation of the Board’s instructions issued on the subject from time to time, the issue of relaxation in the prescribed four-year period for availing the third chance to appear in the Appendix-II (IREM) Examination by Junior Accounts Assistants (JAA) has been examined by the Board.
Vide Railway Board’s letter No. 95/ACII/20l8 dated 28.06.1995, the power to grant the third chance to clear the Appendix II examination within four years of services, on the specific recommendation of FA&CAO, was delegated to the General Manager.
Board (MF) has now decided that Zonal Railways / Production Units, with the approval of the General Manager and on the specific recommendation of PFA, allow availing of the third chance, as permitted as per extant guidelines, beyond the four-year period of service, duly recording the reasons for not being able to conduct the examinations in a way that each candidates get the second/third chance within a period of three/four year respectively.
It is reiterated that this relaxation is restricted only to the time limit and does not entail any enhancement in the number of permissible chances. All other conditions governing the Appendix-II (IREM) Examination shall remain unchanged.
