Generally there is a time lag in utilization of the allocated funds by the research institutions. Unspent balance of a particular financial year is adjusted while releasing the grant-in aid for the next financial year.
Union Minister of Science &Technology and Earth Sciences Shri S.Jaipal Reddy gave this information in reply to a written question in the Rajya Sabha today.
