NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 4th May, 2026

F. No. 2024/E&R/1(1)/3.— 1. In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (4) of Section 3 of the Railways Act, 1989 (No.24 of 1989), the Central Government hereby constitutes a new Zonal Railway namely SOUTH COAST RAILWAY with headquarters at Visakhapatnam, out of the existing East Coast Railway and South Central Railway zones, with effect from 01.06.2026. It is further notified for general information that Central Government hereby constitutes a new division at RAYAGADA under East Coast Railway with effect from 01.06.2026.

2. The jurisdiction in respect of areas for new South Coast Railway and existing East Coast & South Central Railways with effect from 01.06.2026, shall be as indicated below:

  • Existing Khurda Road division re-organized as per para 3.2
  • Rayagada division constituted as per para 3.1
South Central Railway, Secunderabad
  • Existing Hyderabad and Nanded divisions
  • Secunderabad division re-organized as per para 5

3. Existing Waltair Division of East Coast Railway will be bifurcated in two parts. One part of it will be part of the existing East Coast Railway as new Rayagada division and balance part of Waltair division will be part of the new South Coast Railway to be renamed as Visakhapatnam division.

3.1 The jurisdiction in respect of the areas for new Rayagada division, with effect from 01.06.2026, shall be as indicated below:

4. The divisional boundaries between the affected divisions of South Coast Railway and East Coast Railway will be as under:

Further, keeping in view operational requirements, Central Government has also decided to adjust the jurisdictions of Guntur, Guntakal & Vijayawada divisions of South Coast Railway and Secunderabad division of South Central Railway with transfer of sections as indicated below, with effect from 01.06.2026:
