Office Memorandum
Subject: Authorisation/Accreditation of more than one Bank for One Ministry with Multiple Departments or Attached Offices as per functional requirement,
To improve the efficiency of the Accredited /Authorised bank and also for equitable distribution of the Government operations amongst the various banks, leading to effective load sharing, risk diversification and higher service quality, deliberations have been held with other Ministries. Based on the same, it was decided that to facilitate large Ministries with strong systems and high transaction volumes, a Ministry with multiple Departments or attached offices may engage
more than one bank based on its specific needs.
2. Currently, only one bank can be mapped with a particular PAO for payment purposes. However, as stated above, a Ministry with Multiple Departments or attached offices can engage more than one bank depending on their functional requirement. Further Ministries may ensure that one Department should engage with one Bank only.
3. This issues with the approval of the competent authority.
