(a) to (c): The existing Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) facilities are available to new Government employees at present. However, there is a proposal to introduce a health insurance scheme for the Central Government employees and pensioners as per the recommendations of the Sixth Central Pay Commission, which has also recommended to make the scheme compulsory for the new entrants joining the Government service after introduction of the scheme. 

The above information was submitted by the Minister of Health and Family Welfare Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad in reply of undermentioned Lok Sabha Question:-

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:-

(a) whether the Government has decided not to provide CGHS healthcare facilities to its new Government employees;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor; and

(c) the steps proposed by the Government to provide healthcare facility to its new employees?
