Sub: Closure of five Printing Presses.

Ref: Railway Board’s letter No.2018/RS/Ptg.&Sty./AP/PP/IR dated 04.06.2019 and 26.06.2020.

Closure of five printing presses indicated below, which was deferred upto 31.12.2020 earlier, has now been deferred temporarily till the end of March’2023.

2. Railway Zones should take suitable measures for efficient and cost effective operation of printing presses during the period of continuation of printing presses.

Following should also be adopted by Zones for better utilisation of the presses:

i). Outsourcing of printed tickets and money value items should be stopped by Zones and the. cluster Railways till March’2023 (except newly introduced forms required in urgency, if any). Outsourcing of these items (through trade), if any, in case of urgency or unforeseen situations, should be done with the approval of PCMM of the Zonal Railway/Unit, after taking certificate of non-supply from the PCMM of the feeding Printing Press.

ii). Digitisation of all the ticketing systems including PRS and UTS tickets and other money value documents/ forms should be expedited by Traffic Commercial Directorate. Digitization of printing materials to the extent possible should be expedited by all concerned.

iii). Indent placement mechanism for drawl of printed tickets and money value items from printing presses should be made online by Railways.

iv). All Non-Gazetted vacant posts in the five printing presses should be surrendered with immediate effect.

3. This is issued with the approval of Railway Board (CRB in consultation with M/TRS, M/O&BD and MF).
