NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 22nd May, 2026
S.O. 2627(E).— In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 99 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (49 of 2016), the Central Government being of the opinion that it is expedient so to do, hereby makes the following amendment in the Schedule to the said Act, with effect from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette, namely: –
In THE SCHEDULE to the said Act, under the heading “1. Physical disability”, under the sub-heading “A. Locomotor disability”, for serial number (e) and the entries relating thereto, the following serial number and entries shall be substituted, namely: –
‘(e) “acid attack victim” means a person disfigured externally or internally, due to violent assault or self-infliction or accident, by throwing, administering, spilling of acid or similar corrosive substance.’.
